The program of Spanish for foreigners aims to develop communicative skills through social and cultural immersion in the Hispanic world, especially in the Colombian culture. Daily life contexts allow students to manage to solve communicative tasks by using the language in a meaningful way.
The program Spanish for foreigners is aimed at:
- Foreigners interested in learning or improving their communicative competence in Spanish as a foreign language.
- Non-native Spanish speakers, and professionals, interested in learning or improving their communicative competence in Spanish as a foreign language.
- UNAD Florida students.
Spanish Level Exam
This Diagnostic Test aims to assess your prior knowledge of the Spanish language and will indicate the level at which you should enroll, in case your starting point is not the beginner level.
If you already have knowledge of the language, take the test and proceed directly to the level that matches your skills.

Language Proficiency Levels
Nivel A1 Breakthrough
According to the CEFR, the student will be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
Hourly intensity: 160 hours
Nivel A2 Pre-Intermediate
According to the CEFR, the student will be able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).

Nivel B1+ Upper Intermediate
According to CEFR, the student at this B1 level is characterized by a basic command of the language that enables communication in everyday situations. At this level, the student can understand and produce simple texts on familiar topics, express opinions and desires, as well as narrate past experiences. The student has a broad vocabulary to talk about topics such as travel, work, hobbies, among others, and are able to understand basic conversations and texts in Spanish. Although the student makes grammatical and vocabulary errors, the student can maintain a fluent and understandable conversation in most situations.

Nivel B2 Advanced
According to CEFR, this B1+ level represents a step beyond basic proficiency, where the student is capable of handling more complex language tasks. At this level, the student can comprehend and produce moderately complex texts and conversations on a wider range of topics. The learner exhibits improved fluency in expressing opinions, narrating experiences, and engaging in discussions. The student can effectively communicate in everyday situations and is better equipped to navigate real-life interactions in Spanish-speaking environments.

Nivel C1 Upper Advanced
According to CEFR, this B2 level signifies a proficient user who can communicate with ease and spontaneity in most situations. At this level, the learner can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization. The student can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite feasible without strain for either party. Additionally, producing clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explaining viewpoints on topical issues. Overall, B2 learner demonstrates a solid grasp of Spanish grammar and vocabulary to express effectively in various contexts.
